SC B1 has currently:

- 4 Advisory Groups assisting the Chairman in the definition of strategic and customer oriented directions,
- 13 Working Groups with unambiguous terms of reference and predetermined time limits, all approved by the Technical Committee of CIGRE,
- 4 Task Forces which duty is to prepare terms of reference for potential Working Groups,
- 1 specific Task Force in charge of the relations with IEEE/ICC.

Moreover, the SC is involved in a Joined WG with SC B3 (substations).
